Development
After obtaining your design approval, our team of skilled developers will initiate the coding phase to create your web shop using the latest technology stack, which may include WordPress, WooCommerce, Ecwid by Lightspeed, SureCart, or Shopify, combined with industry-leading practices. We will seamlessly integrate your products and incorporate relevant page content. Launch

What does a bespoke webshop cost?
As with any custom-made product, it's hard to guess how much it will cost without knowing more about your needs. Ecommerce websites can cover everything from selling simple to complex products, subscriptions and memberships options with lots of add-ons and functionality. Contact us to find out more about what your project requirements would cost to realise.

Do you offer a payment plan?
Typically, we send a deposit invoice before any work starts on your new project and a balance invoice for the remainder after your website project is complete after about 6 to 8 weeks. That means you'll pay for your website in two instalments.
If you want to spread the cost further and prefer to pay on a monthly basis for your bespoke online shop, we will soon be offering WAAS (websites as a service) through our new division The Orkney Web Design Company which includes the full build of your website and an ecommerce care plan, all for one affordable fee per month.

What are the ongoing costs of an online shop?
The ongoing costs of a website include hosting and domain name registration fees, and maintenance costs. You may consider an ecommerce care plan to ensure that your online shop stays secure, safe and easy to shop with.
If you choose the Shopify and Ecwid platforms, you have a monthly subscription for those and if your Woocommerce shop needs extra functionality, there are pro plugin costs to take into account as well.

I already have a website/webshop that I like, can you do some updates for me?
Yes, we're happy to edit or add pages and content sections to a website that you already have, whether it was built with WordPress or any other platform. Before we do anything, though, we will need to audit your website to ensure it's still using the latest technologies, as working on a very old website can be a waste of time or money, and it might actually be cheaper to start from scratch.

Will I own my online shop?
Yes! After your ecommerce build has been fully paid for, the website files are yours to do with as you please, and the copyright of the design and development also reverts to yourself.

What happens if my site goes down or has been hacked?
If your website goes down, this could be due to a technical issue or a problem with the hosting service. Just get in touch with us and we will help you resolve the issue. If you have opted for one of our care plans, we will know when your website goes down even before you do and will resolve the issue proactively and quickly!
If your website has been visibly hacked or behaves in a strange way that is probably due to hacking, we can help fix this as well. Contact us via our support portal to get help within hours on weekdays. If you'd like to have 24/7 support, consider one of our WordPress website care plans.
Subscribing to a care plan also means you pre-empt hacking attempts, as we monitor security and keep your website infrastructure up to date on a weekly basis.
